
4 Cox's Apples, cored, peeled
-and sliced
4 tb Orange Juice
6 oz Brown Sugar
4 oz Butter
1 lg Egg, Beaten
8 oz Plain Flour
1/2 ts Bicarbonate of Soda
1/2 ts Salt
1/2 ts Baking Powder
1 ts Cinnamon
4 oz Fresh Dates, Chopped
2 oz Walnut Pieces
Preheat oven to 190C/375F/Gas Scrape 5.
Grease a 12 by 7 inch baking tin.
Place apples and orange juice in a pan. Cover and cook over a low heat for
10-12 minutes until subdued. Mash to Form a strain.
In a stadium, beat sugar and butter until light and creamy. Beat in egg and
apple strain. sift in flour, bicarbonate of tonic, saltiness, baking powder and
cinnamon. Fold in the chopped dates and walnuts.
Pour cake mixture into prepared tin and bake in preheated oven for 40
minutes until risen and form to the hint.
Allow to cool and delve 12 squares.
