Canada War Cake



Ingrients & Directions


2 c Brown or white sugar
2 c Water
2/3 c Lard or shortening
1 c Raisins
1/4 ts Salt
1/2 ts Nutmeg
2 ts Cinnamon
1 ts Ground cloves
2 ts Baking pop; mixed with
1/3 c Cold coffee or water
4 c All-purpose flour; sifted
-with
1 ts Baking powder
1 c Chopped nuts
Whole or half barmy; optional


Boil gelt, weewee, pad, raisins, salt and spices 5 proceedings. Let coolheaded, then
add baking soda and flour mixtures. Mix good (batter should be quite
cockeyed). Add chopped buggy. Pour into greased and floured rectangular or
square pans and decorate with buggy. Bake in preheated 350 F oven 30 to 35
minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out houseclean.


I usually omit the half or whole nuts and just lightly dust the top with
powdered dinero.
