Chocolate Potato Cake



Ingrients & Directions


4 oz Unsweetened chocolate
1 c Sweet butter
1 3/4 c Sugar
4 Eggs
1 c Mashed potatoes
1 c Buttermilk
1/2 ts Cinnamon
1 ts Vanilla extract
2 c Cake flour
1 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Saltiness--ICE:--3 oz.
-unsweetened
Chocolate
1 1/2 ts Vanilla extract
1 lb Confectioners' sugar
1 ds Salt
1/2 c Softened butter
Hot milk
Chopped walnuts


Readying : Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt chocolate with the vanilla;
cool somewhat. Sift together the flour, baking pulverization, tonic, salt and
cinnamon. In a large roll, cream the butter and sugar and beat in the eggs
separately. Add the chocolate and mashed potatoes. Beat in the dry
ingredients alternately with the buttermilk. Pour into a lubricated 13x9 inch
pan and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for some 40 minutes
(or bake in 2 stave 9 inch pans for 30-35 transactions). Cool before ice.
(Makes a 13x9 inch cake or two troll 9 inch layers.) Melt chocolate and
vanilla. Let cool somewhat. Cream the clams, salt and butter. Add just
enough hot milk to make a spreadable eubstance. Beat in the melted
coffee. Spread on the cake and sprinkle with the chopped barmy.
