
6 oz Milk Coffee; Good Quality
1/2 c Boiling Water
1 c Butter; Softened
1 1/2 c Sugar
4 Whole Egg Yolks
4 Whole Egg Whites
1 ts Vanilla
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Baking Soda
2 1/2 c Cake Flour; Sifted
1 c Buttermilk
FROSTING
3 tb Butter
2 oz Unsweetened Chocolate
2 c Powdered Sugar
1/8 ts Vanilla; (1 1/2 Lbs.)
4 tb Hot Milk
1/2 sm Whipping Bat; Cartonful
Patty:
1. Melt chocolate in boiling weewee. Chill.
2. Cream butter and sugar until light add egg yolks, one at a time, beating
until very polish.
3. Add chocolate and vanilla.
4. Sift flour, salt and pop.
5. Add alternately with buttermilk to chocolate assortment, beating well after
each extension.
6. beat egg whites besotted, fold into hitter.
7. Pour batter into 3 lubricated 8 or 9 " cake pans.
8. Bake in 350 degree oven 30 to 40 transactions, or until toothpick inserted in
center comes out neat.
9. Cool on wire racks. After nerveless, icing.
Icing:
1. Melt chocolate over top of double kettle.
2. Cream butter and sugar unitedly.
3. Add cocoa, vanilla and saltiness.
4. Add enough of the milk to make good spreading eubstance.
5. Spread frosting between merchantman 2 layers and sides of patty.
6. Whip cream until stiff and spread on top stratum.
Garnish with shaved cocoa.
