Settler's Tea Cakes

No Ingredients Base


One quart of fine flour, two ounces of butter; two teaspoonfuls of
cream of tophus, mixed dry through the flour. One teaspoonful of
salaratus or tonic, mositen the later in milk or water till dissolved,
mix with sweet milk or cold h2o. These cakes to be trilled, and cut
out with a tumbler, about an inch in thickness, served hot and
buttered. Origination: The Canadian Settler's Scout, written in 1855.
