1/2 c Sugar
1/2 c Whipping cream
2 1/2 oz Unsweetened chocolate
1/4 c Unsalted butter; room temp
1/2 ts Vanilla
Strawberries; trim
For icing: Heat cream and sugar in heavy small saucepan until sugar
dissolves, swirling pan occasionally. Bring to roil, stirring
perpetually. Reduce heat and simmer very gently until thick and
treacly, adjusting heat so liquid is barely vibration, approximately 10 proceedings.
Remove from hotness. Add chocolate and stir until still. Stir in butter
and vanilla. Chill until spreadable. Spread top and sides of cake
with frosting. Refrigerate overnight. Bring to room temperature
before serving. Garnishee with strawberries.
